How's everyone's week going so far? Staying warm? Christmas shopping? Sending Christmas cards?
Love that Bless this house girl and the wooden stairway and the old woodwork. Sad that one house, was beautiful one day. it was nearly 80 here yesterday so no need to layer.
ReplyDeleteThere you go looking into windows again! When you take your walks, do you do it daily? Different route? Is this around where you live? As for the question you left on the blog....weddings sure have changed. I remember in the 80s people got married and had cake, nuts and mints. When did they start serving meals? Working at the venue we have brides that wear wedding gowns and its just the bride and groom. Then we have them where they have ten to 15 guest and the bride wears short dress with cowgirl boots. They normally leave in whatever they wear, no changing out for another outfit. Now to answer your questions... Staying warm, almost 70 here in Nashville today but the temps are going to start dropping this weekend. Christmas shopping, done. Wrapping, done. Christmas cards, done.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy walking with you around town. I know it would be even more fun in person! You know where all the interesting stuff is! Sad about the house that was burned, and I don't think I'd be renting that apartment. Cute squirrel and girl in the window. Are those really "sweaters" on those trees? Colorful. I love all the fun things you see. Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteOrange cats, red door and a yarn bombing. I'd be delighted with each and every one of those sites on my walk!
ReplyDeleteHey, Sweet Friend!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see you this rainy morning, with the cheer of our upstairs blocking out and blazing above all the dim outside. Our tree is my favorite of all time, all in pink and a little silver and all decorated with little memories of our life together. I though of you several times when we put all the small items on---lots of his things and gifts he'd given me over the years, most tied up in sweet pink bows by Caro. He love to tell folks that I never wore a piece of the jewelry he'd given me---not a REAL stone in the bunch, but lots of sparkles and pinks---I hung it on lampshades and chandeliers. Your REVLON caught my eye as I came in to see where you were strolling today, for I've been out of touch/pocket/reach for quite a while now. That is and has been my lipstick for FORTY years or so, since it came out, even though it was the most expensive one on the drugstore rack (probably a dollar and a half, I'd guess). It's my favorite for the feel and the color, and from my dear blogging friend, Kelle Hampton: "Wear red shoes. Or red lipstick. Or red underwear. Red is Ordinary's Kryptonite." Chris teased me about having only the one in the drawer, for I'd use it up til I had to finger-pat it out of the lowest recesses. He told folks that he "bought me a new tube every year, whether I needed it or not." This is our first Christmas without him in 34 years, and we're taking day by day with little remembrances and sayings and funny moments and sweet memories from his sayings and doings and all the little souvenirs scattered amongst the family. He passed away in July, after a long and valiant fight, and we'll never NOT miss him. You and your daily adventures and bright prospects and wonderful photos have BRIGHTED me through these several years of midnight musings, and exhausted moments when just something PINK or just plain pretty would brighten the moment. Thank you for just being there, walking your paths, sharing your moments and bringing such bright LIFT to mine.
