Doorways

Amazing old woodwork

Chipped paint tells stories of the decades this house has known.

I love big old red brick houses like this. Just think of the history!
I wonder what the floors look like in there? I wonder if there's a big pretty staircase? Nice big tall windows to let in the Charleston breezes. Wouldn't some ferns look pretty hanging on this tall porch?
Oh....and rocking  chairs!!.....must have rocking chairs!

Love the yellow flowers that add so much charm to this doorway! They bloom there every spring and summer.

What a pretty blue house! Love how that freshly painted and/or varnished? porch door stands out against the blue. Those red flowers add to the summer charm.

Someone drops seashells here on their way in from the beach:

These are for rent

Old and still charming..........

Pretty shade of blue!

This home always has pretty windowboxes--

A well lit doorway welcomes people home to this big house right on the historic Battery:

Lots of people have come and gone up and down these stairs. Just think if these stairs could tell their  stories....

These fern always amaze me.....they are so big and healthy! They sure thrive on this old fashioned porch.

  4. Thank you for the wonderful tour! My idea of a perfect vacation would just to drive around and look at old houses. BTW, one of the best ways to see inside these old homes is to attend estate sales. Some of the homes I've been inside! It's fascinating!

    Happy 4th of July!

  6. Hi Debbi, I so love the topics you blog about! You and I would have a wonderful walk together noticing all the wonderful things there in Historic Charleston, if only I lived there right?
I love the maintained blue house, the red door is spectacular. I enjoyed seeing them all though, restored and taken care of and the run down ones.
Have a nice weekend, and Happy July 4th!

  9. I'd love to see inside them too. The ones that need some TLC make me wish someone would buy them and pour out the love on them.
