Beaches on the weekend

Our Weather man says we'll get rain and a little wind, nothing too bad here. There will probably be flooding as well, when there is a hurricane/storm PLUS high tide PLUS a full moon, there is alot of water flooding up for sure.
think these birds are all up there discussing the storm that is headed our way?
We spent the weekend going to the beaches! Yesterday we went to Sullivan's Island.

 Up and over the drawbridge!

green summer marsh at high tide

Poes was busy!

I love how they keep this tree decorated like this year round!

Today we headed to Folly Beach

My color combinations for today, LOL!! ha ha

Elvis....do I see Elvis????

the little local grocery store

The increase in bigger waves brings in the surfers! they live for this....LOL!

There was a wedding or some type of nice party going on here

We love to go!

BEADS today: multi color beads of many shapes and colors and sizes. I have no idea where I got this necklace! LOL

the wind was blowing SO HARD!  You can see me holding my blouse down!

This is the "Folly Boat". People come and paint  it however they want. It's allowed as long as you don't put anything bad on it, ha ha

today's "arm candy" LOL

I love pink houses and pink shutters!

Tomorrow we will likely be at home all day, rained in. It's ok--I have plenty to keep me busy and lots of new summer magazines to dive into!
two of my all time favorites--Southern Lady and Southern Living

The new Reminisce Extra looks to be fun reading......articles about the old fashioned beach and roadside motels! They were clean, they were comfortable, they were colorful, and they were owned by families, not big corporations.

Myrtle Beach back in the 1960s, the good ole days. I remember all the fun so vividly!

 Here's more for the stack:

And after a few WEEKS of reading, I'm finally about to finish up City of Girls. It had a slow start, but I kept reading and the middle and end gets better.
How was your weekend and is it HOT where you are? It's up in the 90s here and so humid.
Did you have any adventures this week?
If you are in the path of the storm, please be careful and stay safe!

  1. OH, I enjoyed your little jaunt around the beaches and all the interesting looking cafe's and shops, etc....and seeing the surfers headed to the beach to catch those waves! What fun. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine before today's rainy indoor day. Looks like you have plenty of magazines, etc. to keep you well occupied. Thank you for visiting my blog this morning. You've already seen my 'adventures'. Nothing much happening here...probably be a quiet day for us too. I hope we get a drop or two of rain! LOL. Have a blessed day and stay safe.

  2. Hi Debbi, I remember my daughter driving over that bridge and we went to Sullivan's Island. I loved seeing all that you and your hubby saw on your drive arounds. You have been on my mind this week as talk of the hurricane as been news. Please be safe. I am praying for you and your beautiful city. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Good morning! I love all your beach town photos. Our adventure with the storm was yesterday here in Florida, nothing but a few showers over where I live on the SW side. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about but stay in and stay safe!

  4. Beach towns are a world of their own, always unique with a feeling of freedom. Surprised to see so many people socializing. We still have a mandatory mask and distancing here. Glad you aren't getting the brunt of the storm.

  5. Hope your area does not get much damage.

Yes, Full Moon and thus, higher tides, is not a good hurricane time.

    Be safe!

  6. That was a nice summertime/ beach post. I hope you make it through the storm without too much damage. We expect it tomorrow and it sounds like we will get a lot of rain and heavy winds. Our local weather forecasters are going nuts over it but I will ignore them because they are often wrong. However, it is 2020 and it has been the roughest of years, so what’s another hurricane.

  7. I LOVE Folly Beach!!! Your pictures make me wish we were going soon. The pink house with white shutters and white house with pink shutters are on the route we walk to the beach from the place we always rent. I love those houses! We were there last year during the tail end of a tropical storm (Nestor, maybe?) and went down to the beach to see the waves. It was so windy! I hope the storm doesn't do much damage and there's not too much flooding.

  8. It was HOT down here in Fl. over the weekend, we were not impacted by the storm, since we are on the West coast of Fl. I am really enjoying your blog, love the colorful arm candy and necklaces you wear. Hope you don't get much wind or flooding from the storm.

  9. We have a fire in the fireplace and it's about 55 or maybe less here. Down in the 40s tonight. It's nice to see your beautiful beaches. Oh, I do miss our trips to Myrtle. I know a little ol' tropical storm is nothing compared to the hurricanes you are used to, but please be careful and wishing you no damage!

  10. Batten down the hatches and stay safe. - Oh it would be lovely to visit the beach. Maybe next year, we've had way to much happening this year. I enjoyed seeing all your beach photos though.

  11. I thoroughly enjoyed your slice of life of a day on Sullivan's Island! I loved all the pictures because I remember so many of the novels I read years ago by writers like Pat Conroy that took place there. I love pink houses and pink shutters too! I hope that the Carolina coast came through the storm okay. Some of the NC news looks bad a little inland and could be bad as it goes north. Myrtle Beach was our family vacation spot during the 50s and I dearly loved our week there!
