Always something interesting to see on the city streets.....
Restaurants, stores ,busy hotels, corner groceries, street food--hot and sizzling.
.....and on this chilly spring evening--a sweet little kitty is alert on the sidewalk, intently gazing at all who wander by. She is working tonight, beside her beloved person and her "big brother" the dog.
The typewriter keys go "clickety-clack, clickety-clack" as her beloved person creates poetry, street poetry, on whatever topic strikes your fancy.
The kitty leaps up onto the shoulders of her beloved person. "I must help keep her warm", kitty thinks. "and whisper ideas into her ear--ideas for poems. Poems about chasing mice and tasting salty sardines. Poems about dishes of sweet milk and sleeping by a warm fire."
I chat with the lady for a bit. She tells me that she was taught how to write street poetry in New Orleans.
So...what "topic" would you choose for your poem to be about?
Salty sardines are a very good topic for a poem :D
ReplyDeleteMine would be about chilly nights and eating pizza at midnight.
I would have picked a poem about young street venders working. What a clever young lady and her adorable pets. Debbi, I hope you are doing well, enjoying your trips around your lovely city. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLove this post. That kitty looks exactly like my Misty (that I lost a few years ago). It could double as her twin.
ReplyDeleteA poem about spring coming would work for me. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. xo Diana
Interesting young lady with her dog and cat and old fashion typewriter. Love those blue lights...
ReplyDeleteMy poem needs to be about the spring flowers coming and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI think her little dog isn't happy sitting on the cold concrete sidewalk? maybe it's not cold down there? is it
such an interesting "profession"!! she looks sweet, i think i could spend hours talking to her. my topic would be the beach!!
