Many stores closed down and left the same window displays in the windows, and there they remained for many many weeks. It was a strange sight. We didn't window shop anymore after this night.
I've never seen so many of our stores close except for a hurricane of course, and then they open back up soon as the hurricane is gone.
This went on for months and just these past two weeks or so, shops are slowly starting to re-open. Many were barely hanging on due to the virus when the riots occured. It was the last straw for a few downtown businesses and they have permanently closed.
How about in your city?
Debbi, Some of the news of your city is sad. The rioting, not right. The cause for protest was. But all suffer who love their cities. It was nice to see in the shops you showed us. Blessings, stay strong and safe, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSeveral of our restaurants have not re-opened and it is a sad sight. We only had one incident of rioting and it was shut down quickly and our Governor put a 8:00pm curfew in place right away. It was just recently lifted. I think a lot of these pictures were from a antique shop as the beautiful glassware is not found today. Loved that gate:)
ReplyDeleteyou shared some really beautiful glass and china. i don't know about our stores yet, non-essential stores were only allowed to open yesterday, so now we will see. i fear the mom and pop shops will not have weathered the storm. we had one really bad protest/riot about 10 minutes from home in point pleasant, where we go all the time. and it was no protest, it was a riot...now i don't know how safe we feel to go back to that beach town!!
ReplyDeletewe started swimming in the pool 3 days after we opened it. it is not heated, it use to be but the heaters break all the time and repairs are very expensive!! the water is warm, although the hubs may disagree, we have both been enjoying it!!!
