Fall and Winter reads

Staying warm and cozy here!

Hope y'all are too and that you're not in the path of the big storm that is developing.

my "clunky" shoes ha ha LOL

Fall and Winter reading has kept me busy during my reading times.

I read my first Natasha Lester book back in the hot summer and loved it, so I found others by her. They are all set in the World War Two era. The stories are blended in with real history and are WELL researched.....so are really interesting. I really appreciate it when an author can blend actual history and make it into a really good story.

I just finished Riviera House, It WAS GREAT

Ive never heard of this author, so will be trying her out

I made pictures of the book below in Tansy's dollhouse. It seemed appropriate,  LOL

it was a good book, I enjoyed it!

Tansy scatters shoes all over.....LOL

Both of these books below were quick and easy reads and very good stories, I would read both authors again.

I've read Diane Chamberlain before and I think I liked her books, so I picked this one up at the discount book store:

I finished this book and it was really good:
Alabama, around the turn of the Century

I found Sandy Taylor in late summer/early Fall this past year. Her books are very good and they are clean. The Boarding House stories were really good.
I have two more Sandy Taylors in my stack as well, to be read.
Looks like they take place in the 1960s

This book  (Irish Eyes)was really good and I LOVED THE HISTORY.
It was so good I bought the follow up sequel and read it last week. It was even better than the first one.

Fairy Granddaughter is well beyond the reading level of this cute little book, I bought it just for fun and for a fun look back

Fairy Granddaughter loved to play with those tiny little Genie dolls

Finished this one last night:

womans world magazine

Sometimes I find good books to try out from this magazine
Womans World magazine

Winter is a perfect time to read!

I always remember the tragic sinking of the Fitzgerald every November. I haven't finished all these books as I got busy with the holidays, they are fascinating reading.

Does anyone remember the sinking? What an awful tragedy.
How about the Gordon Lightfoot song, anyone sang along?

And that's it so far, for my Fall and Winter reads!
Please stay safe and warm, y'all.

  1. Wow! That's a LOT of books and reading! I don't know how you do it, with the chickens and dogs and cats and everything else you take care of! LOL. They all look interesting. I may have to see if our library has any of those books. I haven't been doing much reading over the holidays, and now maybe I'll get back to it. I love seeing you in your pretty red top and "clunky shoes", sitting in your rocking chair outside and enjoying reading your books. Looks like a great spot to read! Are you expecting that winter storm to reach you all? It's supposed to actually warm up here this weekend and reach 80 degrees, while everyone else is suffering in that storm. I am praying for so many you are in the path of it, but I am also very thankful that we are where we are. It's no wonder so many people move to Florida for the winter! Thank you for your comment on my last post too. And Blackie was just in here for his breakfast, and now he is back outside watching the birds. Lily Grace sends her love to you and Tracie and Amybelle and Tansy and all the rest of the gang! Have a blessed day my friend!

  2. I even loved all those merry splashes of color, as I scrolled down the pantheon of pages! What a TROVE of stories you have planned (or have read), and all your cushiony comforts and Little Red Hen Pre-Preparations are giving promises of a warm, cozy Winter by your fires. You have the HOME gene, and the COZY chromosome, just like me---I've just "caught up" two twenty-gallon snap-top tubs of water, just in case. We're mentioned with below-TEN for the next couple of weeks, so I'm taking no chances. The animals faucet out the back door is frozen right now, and I have to keep an eye on their big silver pan to keep it full of warm water. Never before have caught water in all these years in the freezy NORTH, but certainly did in those chilly nights of our Delta years.

We shared a pump on the farm---four houses of us, all kin, and at one time there, we had five generations right there around one big lawn. My first Mother-in-Law was an Angel on this Earth, and Taking Care was her middle name. She was stringently dedicated to all the "power" supplies---the electricity, the big silver gas tanks which sat beside each house, and our wonderful water----hundreds of feet deep icy fresh water, serving us all, with ONE Golden Rule: When the thermometer was to reach 33 in the night, the pump power was turned off to prevent any kind of mishap with frozen pipes at any house, or at the pump itself.

Stay warm and well, Faraway Friend!

  3. Thank you for all the book reviews. I now have several of them on my "to read" list.
I always love coming here and seeing what you are up to. Have loved your walkabouts over the years, too.
Not sure if I mentioned it but my grandgirl moved to Charleston and she just loves it there...and now has a new puppy name Lambeau (a Cockapoo).
Have a wonderful weekend and keep reading! xo Diana
