Wow, December has flashed by so quickly!

John Sloane country calendar

And we have definitely  had ourselves a country house Christmas:

I add a new reindeer to my collection each year. This year it was a pretty clear GREEN reindeer, and I couldn't resist the red one to go with it! LOL

I bought some for presents too
Caught Tracie Gale and Amybelle outside playing with the reindeer one warm day: LOL

there has been wrapping and bows:

getting Christmas cards signed, sealed, stamped, and mailed.

and cookies!

We've been on the trails ALOT

Enjoying the nice warm weather. I think it was almost 80 here on Christmas day.

This day we were out making our annual Christmas card pictures:

the girls were ready to go!

Modeling their new Christmas outfits! LOL

some of us got tired! LOL

We enjoyed packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child:
That was a FUN evening at church

so was our Christmas meal at church on another evening, here's one of the pretty centerpieces:

Our ladies decorated their coops for Christmas LOL

Advent candles

I wore THREE CHRISTMAS PINS on my sweater! LOL. Got this idea from Miss Pam over at Still Waters Pond (Closed Doors, Open Windows) blog!
She did it and I thought "what a fun idea!!", so I did too!

Christmas Eve

My little old Christmas pocketbook, I carry it Christmas Eve. It's so old it has yellowed, but I still love it and take it. I glued those little beads and rhinestones on that about 25 years ago, LOL

Christmas Eve Candlelight service was beautiful

We've been enjoying all the pretty Christmas hymns and carols all November and December:

I love them all so much!
We've enjoyed lots of good Christmas movies:

My church collection:

Christmas Day at the coop

The ladies are all lined up waiting on their Christmas supper!
They loved it!

Back on the trails on Christmas Day:

one of my favorite presents.....the pearl and red Carnelian necklace:

I got the green aventurine and freshwater pearls one for Christmas last year:

and I got the blue lapis lazuli one for my birthday this past spring! So I'm very happy to now have them in all the colors I wanted

also got books:

stocking goodies

Tammie and Bindie's "stockings"

a bag of goodies from a friend....a big blue tin of shortbread cookies, herbal tea, loaf pans, cookie cutter,  a pretty kitchen towel, and a little tree that lights up and plays music

a relative sent us this pretty tree nightlight......it's bright and pretty!
I was so busy Christmas day I didn't get any pictures but we did have a good Christmas supper.....Mr. Front Porch grilled us salmon, and we had baked 'taters. There was plenty left over for two more days of salmon, scalloped 'taters, and the good Sister Shubert rolls.....yum. LOL

  1. What a FABULOUS array of WONDERFUL to come here to, after such a fraught-with-storms day and night! Such weather-art as REDS AND GREEEEENs and all the shocking orange and yellows screeching from the screen. I'd found a young man with the charming name of MAX(insert little exclamatory, shattery O here) VELOCITY, on YouTube, and since he was doing all his warnings to Montana, I just settled to my puzzle and THEN I realized: There CAN'T be another Bloomington and Mitchell and Orleans and Evansville just South there in MT. It was for HERE----I'd been out in the morning, with a little fun shop at ALDI for Christmas leftovers and stocking stuffers for next year, and all was well when I came in lugging all the loot.

Between then and lunch and MAX, the skies had taken a TURN, and then it began to get dark, and I set a little grabbit-lantern at my feet (we had one traumatic outage this past Summer whilst we were having the house re-wired---trauma enough in itself, but worse).

You know how "they say" that a tornado sound like a "Freight Train,"---or at least THEY said that in all my Southern raising, even on the Memphis NEWS Dave Brown used those exact words. Somehow, the winds were so gusty and the cold descending fast---I swore I could hear AMTRAK and Illinois Central and Ole City of New Orleans, right there around our house. I LOVE trains with all the love in my small-town-girl's heart, but I could see our enormous TREES waving in the yard as limber as the WeatherBush. The across-the-street neighbors had taken down their elaborate display of all things inflatable and lightable, or we'd have had a mylar/vinyl/rubber catastrophe right here in the street. And dear Minnie Mouse, who we have laughed at for years for her tendency to deflate overnight, and fall sprawling with a drunken smile on her face, might have made it as far as I-65 before landing.

I'm scrolling through, slowly and sumptuously taking in the sweet vignettes and the dollies and dogs and chicken-girls in all their Christmas finery and joy---I love how you just splash so many wonderful colors out into the world, with your snazzy wardrobe and jewelry---I remember once I wore NINE pins down the lapel of a white dinner jacket from Goodwill---it might have belonged to an Indiana Dandy who frequented the same speakeasy as Dillinger---just a few miles from here.

That PURSE----that purse is heritage GOLD---what a fabulous relic of creation and style and Time. I've been meaning to ask---I think we might well be called actual friends, with our Mutual Admiration Society going for so many years. Though I certainly did not MAKE it, but it is a gorgeous sight to see, and it has no particular THEME or season attached, I have something so lovely, so perfectly beautiful, I've had it hanging on the doorknob of the front-door closet for about five years, and would love to send it on to you---You'd not just leave it hanging, I'm sure, but would take it proudly OUT into your sweet world of travels and sights and wonderful folks of your acquaintance. If you feel comfortable sharing, my e-Mail is ganjin042@gmail.com That's a ZERO in there. Best and happiest wishes for more strolls, sights, and sharing of your wonderful world.

  3. Oh, I LOVE these pictures! I'm glad I found th em. They are so wonderful. You really had some beautiful days, and you look so lovely in your Christmas outfits and I love your pins. I think one of them is just like mine. I love seeing Amybelle and Tracie out having fun in their little jeep! They are such fun girls! And your pups are wonderful too, and that Callie is something else. Oh, btw, I gave Blackie some of his Christmas treat and he loved it and said Meow Meow, "Thank you" in cat language. I love your jewelry and that Christmas purse too! So many happy pictures, and you look wonderful!! Happy New Year my friend. I wish we lived closer.

  4. Debbi my dear you look WONDERFUL in your festive clothes, and I do LOVE your necklaces! The blue, green, and red! You are ready to be decked out for sure, for any occasion! Your decorations are gorgeous and you looked beautiful in your green velvet with your hair down! Love your little purse that you carry on Christmas Eve! We went to church with the Presbyterians on Christmas Eve and held up the candles and sang Silent Night and I enjoyed it so much! And then had a lovely buffet with the family. Can you believe this flip-flop and tank-top weather! And just when I have a new (vintage) mink vest! Ugh I want some cold. Happy New Year! xoxo
