Fall on the Front Porch

We saw some pretty things while rambling around on King Street last night:
I fell in love with these pretty yellow vases!
Our City streets:
(and lots of benches if you get tired)

This shop has lovely bright sparkling chandeliers!

Aren't they elegant?

I love making pictures of the doors, gates and windows downtown. The entrance to the stairs going up to this apartment building is a curiosity to me. If you are moving upstairs, how in the world do you get your furniture, especially a mattress or couches, past THIS?

I always pause to admire the pretty things on display at this antique store. It's my favorite!

Isn't this a GORGEOUS tea pot??

This reminds me of the old movie "PollyAnna". Does anyone remember that movie?

We came upon a young woman entertaining us. She had a lovely and strong voice and could play this banjo. I love banjo music!
This young couple and their doggie were enjoying the show.

Colorful scarves blowing in the Fall breezes!

I enjoy Anthropologie's windows as well....always bright and colorful!

Other things:
transferred most of my hot summer clothes and got out some Fall ones. This is my favorite Fall vest:

Harvested my parsley and basil. This was my first year to have an herb garden and I loved it!

I still have chives and others growing.

Have y'all seen the new line of dishes from the Pioneer Woman? They are pretty and I fell in love with the little creamers! They have teal and red I believe, and I grabbed this one with the flowers on it! She was the LAST ONE! Isn't she precious?

And I did do some Fall decorating:

I got these pretty earrings for only .99 cents a pair on the clearance aisle at Michaels! Just love 'em! Can't beat that deal!
What's everybody reading? Here's mine...

Some of these I have finished and many I have not even started! ha! LOL
(tried three times and that picture above came out sideways every time!!?  ha ha LOL) So I am leaving it that way.

......picked up the new Susan Branch 2016 calendars! They are gorgeous, as always!........

The floods seem to be over. But the clean up and repairs and rebuilding of homes and lives has just begun. I think the final death toll was 19 people lost. Still so many roads out. And bridges and dams broken, busted, and/or gone. So many people lost their homes, their cars,  and everything in their homes.

These next nine pictures are not mine, I just snapped them as they were on the tv news. I am so glad so many volunteered to go get so many animals. Animals suffer too. So many were hurt, lost, or drowned.  So sad

This is one way to rescue a doggie!
Chickens and pigs too!

That's it for this time. I've been taking a short break from blogging. Hope this catches me up. I hope to be by to visit y'all this weekend. I am having trouble posting comments...many times I am half way through typing  a comment...and it just all erases!....so chances are...even if you don't see a comment from me....I did stop by! Going to try to get that fixed...

Charleston Flood

After not being able to get out for a few days, we were able to venture out today in the pouring rain to snap a few pictures. I wish so many of them were clearer...but I was shooting these on the run...and trying to keep my little camera from getting WET!

These photos, fortunately, are very mild compared to the severe destruction and loss of homes, cars, property, and a few lives due to this awful storm, so I can't show you the true devastation in some areas as I can't get into them.
There are whole ROADS busting apart and falling into deep ravines and rivers of turbulent rushing water, people being rescued and air lifted to safety, cars floating, homes flooded, all the schools are closed, power outages, people in temporary shelters, and a cemetery unearthed and coffins completely out of the ground, floating and being tossed by the water. There are bridges out and large areas of highways closed.
And it's still raining......

Rain covered street:

Blocked off streets:

Every time the tide comes in.......the flooding goes up again

the Battery is never this EMPTY!

Our power has flickered here a few times.....but not gone OUT and I am so thankful for that! Many thanks to all of you who have been checking on us, after seeing the news. I've been getting very nice texts and emails from all over the U.S. We are okay here and so thankful our place is still clean, warm and dry.
Very few people ventured out. They are carrying bags....they must've been on a quick store run........you know.........milk, bread, coffee and dog food! We did that as well. There is hardly anything open downtown.
I've never seen this fountain empty. There are ALWAYS people gathered around it.......even in the dead of winter.

I have no explanation for this photo....do y'all think its a sad rained out outdoor wedding? A run-away bride? a costume party? museum volunteers in uniform? a rainy bridal photo shoot?
...............and away they go, running through the rain!

The last of the Crepe Myrtles

Its raining cats and dogs here in Charleston and it isn't going to let up for awhile. With our already saturated ground.....and our weatherman predicting another 7 to 12 inches more rain tomorrow.....we are hoping it lets up soon. Many downtown streets are flooded and most downtown businesses closed today, as did the Charleston county schools. Alot of flash flooding and sand bags being placed. The Weatherman says its going to be at it's worst early around sunrise tomorrow morning, until around ten am or so, when the winds will come in from the ocean from the hurricane, which thankfully, has moved on out to sea. The waves were big today and the surfers were out in full force at the Wash Out in Folly Beach enjoying the big surf rolling in....they live for that!

"Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head...."
When I took the dogs out to walk earlier we stood underneath a palm tree and the wind picked up and blew the rain down on us.......we were soaked! LOL I had pulled out my first long sleeve t-shirt today, and it felt great with the  nice cool breezes.

The last of the cheery and showy crepe myrtles are bidding us good bye now. It must be time for Fall to really arrive soon....

I made a big crock pot of homemade beef stew which makes the house smell so good! And threw open all the windows for fresh breezes today.........for the first time since early summer! Sure felt great. Will be doing some Fall decor decking of the halls this weekend.
What are y'all up to? Stay warm and dry y'all!!
