Summer has arrived! Merry Summer, y'all!
time for the long hot summer.........
My May birthday arrived
went outside to make pictures of my balloons
We went to Bluffton for my birthday
Scenes along the way:
the mimosas were in bloom on my birthday
so dainty, so delicate!
We toured the Heyward House museum, it was great!
The home was built in 1841 and still has most of the original woodwork and floors. The Carolina farmhouse style was from planters from the West Indies.
So many interesting things to see!
We used to walk by the old Confederate Widows Home all the time. And of course we've been to Magnolia cemetery many times. So this was interesting.
Posing by the trundle bed
I loved seeing all the old furniture, dishes, shoes, quilts, and do I spy a DOLLHOUSE?
My friend Pam and I would love to play with this! LOL

The creator is from Indiana and he has sculptures on display all over, at colleges and hospitals and other places, as well as his home sculpture garden here on his property.

I have a similar old lamp like this one
the Sweetgrass baskets like in this painting are still sold by the Basket Ladies in downtown Charleston, and at stands all along the highway

We toured this fun Sculpture Garden:

He is very generous to allow people to tour it.
Went to see the old Oyster Factory:
We spent alot of time resting on this bench and enjoying watching the boaters. There was a really nice breeze.
Beautiful old twisty trunk tree
Enjoyed looking at the pretty flowers that were blooming
and I always stop to read memorials when I see them. This was near the water, so perhaps a boating accident/drowning? sad...
I like seeing all the giant decorated oyster shells about town:
The beautiful shells are painted by local artists and are scattered all over town. I think there are about 21 of them. It's fun to search for them. We only saw about 3 or 4! Each one has it's own plaque with information.
Some amazing clouds on the way home.......
and then a rainbow out in the country!
Presents:
One of my favorite presents, a green corduroy pocketbook! It's soft and "slouchy", I love it.
some of my cards:
.....and new Crocs house shoes, in the green color I wanted! And they couldn't be any easier to keep clean.....you can just hose them down, LOL. Perfect for country living.
I especially love the porch swing one!

And I'd heard of these, but never had one.......a pocketbook organizer!
It's so easy to transfer the whole thing to different pocketbooks and you don't have all the little things stuck down in the bottom when you're searching. I love it.
It has lots of compartments, zippers, pockets. They come in alot of different sizes too, for little and large pocketbooks and tote bags.
some of my cards:
a funny chicken tin sign
Hairbows and doo-dads. I also got bags of candy and two new pairs of slacks. I picked out a new dress too, but it hasn't arrived yet.....

a pretty magnet and these adorable fairies came with the teas and card up above
I especially love the porch swing one!
a friend from church brought me a German chocolate cake too! So I ended up with two cakes, plenty to last all week. LOL
It was a wonderful birthday! I was blessed with many fun and special cards and things!
