Love seeing the farmer's fields during summertime, Everything grows so QUICKLY!
I always look forward to the COTTON....
AND I watch it like a hawk.....
There it is.......my first cotton bloom I've spied this summer!
the beautiful blooms turn purplish late in the day and fall off
the purple/pink flower wilts and falls off, leaving the round thing underneath...which turns into the cotton boll. These are harvested to make cotton.
When the fields are full of the actual fluffy white cotton and it looks like fields of snow, I'll make more pictures. It's even prettier then.
Spotted in OUR fields:
our baby watermelons!Growing all summer
Hot summer Sundays headed to church, brings out bare legs, summer sandals, HAIR UP, paint your toenails pretty, and sun hat.
MERCY, it gets HOT HERE |
AFTER church, here I am holding my favorite plastic horse in my collection. LOL
Ive been collecting these for years, most are smaller but this is one of my big ones.
Know why it's my favorite?
Know why it's my favorite?
It's Little Joe's beautiful horse! LOL
Remember how I told y'all we've been watching "Bonanza" all spring and summer and how we love it?
Ben, Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe.
now, I don't think this is an "official" Ponderosa play horse or anything, but it's black and white and close enough for ME. LOL
Do you watch any old shows?
Hope your week has started out great!
this week is off to a pretty good start!! purplish flowers and watermelons, what could be better!! i don't usually watch old flicks, not that i don't like them, i don't usually think about them!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a burst of recollection just rose up to these poor, injured ceilings!! (Did I tell you we just had the whole HOUSE re-wired for safety? the gaping jaws of rafters and ipes and wires run around three sides of this basement room, so long the pristine setting of so many parties and dinners and happy gatherings, set with the best china or the Teletubbies plates, and now the MESS is about to be remedied, after the month of drywall dust and wiring debris).
ReplyDeleteThose cottonfield photos just set my morning up for a good start---so many decades of that RIGHT OUTSIDE my bedroom window, from first plowing (that unforgettable scent of the Spring dust turned again, just as the seasons) to the flat-shorn plant stems come October, wisps of white still valiantly waving in the wind, after the Big Beasts have gobbled their bounty.
And it's the stage I love best, betwixt tender blossoms of pink and purple, and the morphing into those tiny froggy-fly-trap hands clasped in blessing before the boll bursts with its white burden. Love this little tour today---it's one of my favorites of all time.
I don't know why I don't see your posts until several days have passed by. I guess I was just busy and not keeping up. I am sorry. I love this, and love your outfit for church...and I love your beautiful horse! He's a real beauty!! I loved Bonanza, but haven't watched it in a while. It would be fun to see them again. I loved the cotton blossoms...I never saw the flower before, only the cotton balls! That's really interesting! And I hope your watermelons are pink and juicy and wonderful!! Nothing better than a really fresh ripe watermelon on a hot day. Happy Labor Day!! I'm sorry I'm so far behind. Please forgive me.
