Gone too Soon

My sweet Mommy went to Heaven last Sunday morning. I am brokenhearted. This is the sunset on that day.

.....and the sunset reflecting in the waves. She loved the ocean so much.
And then that very night.......the beautiful and mysterious lunar eclipse. She LOVED looking at the moon so much--all her life! This night she had a front row seat. I just know she smiled!
Some bright morning when this life is over
I'll fly away
To that home on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away
When the shadows of this life have gone
I'll fly away
Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, oh glory
I'll fly away in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away

Always, Mommy. You'll be in my heart always.

  5. I am so saddened to hear this news. There is nothing quite as hurtful as losing your Mom, the one who birthed you and raised you. There is this special bond between us and our Mother as no other. I am so glad you posted this and I hope that each time you read it, it will bring you comfort.

  6. hi debbi, is there anything a person can say to comfort you during this difficult time?? your life will never be the same but can you imagine your life without her for all the years she was with you. sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have our moms, how lucky someone is to have a great relationship with their mom...not everyone is blessed with a wonderful mom!!

so as you grieve, try to remember how lucky you are to have had her in your life!!

warm wishes debbi, i enjoyed this beautiful tribute to your mom!!!

  7. Oh Debbi, I'm so sorry! I'll Fly Away is such a favorite song of mine but heartbreaking mixed in with the blessed assurance of knowing you'll see them again someday. My father has been gone for a long time now and we all know our dear mother is longing to go but God has said it's not time yet. It touched my heart so to read of how your mother loved watching the moon always and knowing about the beautiful one Sunday night. Bless you in the sad days ahead, dear Debbi,
    Dewena

  8. I am so sorry Debbi! I love that song and this is such a beautiful post honoring your Mom. How fortunate you were to have her for so long. I lost my own mother when I was only 18 months old, so I don't even have memories of her, only old black and white photos. I wish I could give you a hug sweet friend.

  9. Oh Debbi, I know your heart must be broken into tiny pieces you aren't certain will ever mend. I loved the memories of your dear Mommy that you shared here -- her love of sunsets, the ocean and the moon. How wonderful to have been honored with the eclipse on this night. I'm not sure the words can heal; only time can do that. But they can provide comfort, I think, and I hope in these coming days you will find comfort in the words here and from others.

There is no loss like the loss of a mom. It will take time. Be very gentle with yourself. Sending love and hugs.

  14. I am so very sorry about your loss. I know your heart is broken and hope that all your memories will bring you some comfort, but it is a very difficult time. My husband passed away 3 months ago so I understand the grief we feel when a loved one is taken from us. It’s a terrible loss to lose a mom, be patient with yourself and take care.
