cotton fields

 Good bye, September!

John Sloane calendar

The country ditches  are painted with splashes of bright yellow goldenrod

We have marigolds, roses, sunflowers, yellow mums, Old Maids, and red mandevilla all in bloom

Got out one of my Fall shawls and boots this Sunday:
Yay!!! time for boots again, finally! LOL. (it's not chilly enough, but I wore them anyway, ha ha ) There comes Callie the Barn Kitty behind me

Sunday after church we went out to look and see if the cotton had come out, and it had, lots of soft fluffy puffs!

I love watching all the fields and what the farmers are growing each season. It will be time to harvest all this cotton real soon. I think they've got the peanuts already, and definetly the corn, beans, watermelons, etc.

The big bright Harvest Moon this week:

We are still harvesting lots of peppers

These bad things ate at our "maters" this summer:

a pretty scarlet ditch blossom

Put away my summer pocketbooks and hats and got out a few Fall scarves, hats, and pocketbooks

Four O' Clocks still blooming like crazy
Another one of Callie's friends.......he comes around at supper time

Hope everybody's October has started out great!

  1. Awww...that last picture. What a sweet kitty. I am ready for fall, too, but with my inflammation still acting up I don't think I can get my fall boots on yet. sigh. Enjoy your weekend, Debbi. xo Diana

  2. Oh, you are really ready for October! Love your fall outfits and boots and scarves, etc. It's still a little warm here for boots and scarves, but I hope it will start cooling down as soon as this hopefully rainy week gets over. It's supposed to rain this whole next week, and I am sure praying it will and maybe our pond will start to fill up before the winter "snow birds" come back down looking for a place to land. I love your barn cat Callie and the friendly visitor. Those cotton fields and balls are so pretty! Looks like you live right in the middle of cotton country! So wonderful!! And the goldenrod is blooming around here too. I just noticed some down by the "pond". I need to go take some pictures of it. I hope you have a wonderful October!!! Happy Autumn days ahead!!!

  6. Debbi you look like a beautiful butterfly in your shawl! And you have reminded me how much I cannot WAIT to wear my boots! That critter eating your 'maters is truly AWFUL! Ugh! TG would say put some bug dust on that!!! I know you'll have hummingbirds year round but I still have one, this far into October! Such a lovely time of year! xoxo 🏴‍☠️
