Happy Plants
Every time I go past this downtown house I check for new additions to the upstairs porch garden! The people who live upstairs have lots of healthy and happy plants!

Lets have a Cook-Out!
Enjoyed the new "Cook Out" restaurant. Excellent and quick service and the food was great!
There's one on Savannah Highway that used to be the old Checkers and one on University Boulevard by Southern Charleston University.
Their menu has many choices including corn dogs, cheese dogs, BLT's, chicken many ways, Coke floats, Cheerwine floats, burgers, old fashioned shakes, and BBQ-- "cooked outdoor style".
There were about 50 different flavors of milkshakes!--got to go back and try one of those out! This time I had the chopped pork BBQ plate with the coleslaw, hush puppies and french fries.
Go check them out!

Introducing Jasmine!
"Need a Ride??"
Isn't she just lovely?
While out running errands tonight, I was befriended by "Jasmine", who was also out running errands.
I was so glad to make her acquaintance and hope to see her again soon!
If you need a taxi in the Charleston area, give "North Area Taxi" service a call! They are very friendly and professional!!
And although Miss Jasmine is the star of the blog today, I do have some more halloweenish photos for y'all...........
from one of Charleston's wonderful old historic churches. I love wandering around our peaceful and historic old cemetaries--so much to see and to learn. I've found graves way back to the 1700s and I know we have them way before that since Ive read it in our history books. If you are a history buff as I am, there is so much to learn in a city like ours.
and finally--I made this photo last Fall downtown, but the display is up again thisyear.

See how friendly she is?
Her nice owner pointed out her unique butterfly markings on her chest!

Chicken at Zaxby's
We tried out a little place called "Zaxby's" tonight. Never been there before and it was yummy!
The service was great and the food tasted great as well!
My plate had 3 nice size peices of chicken with fries on the side and a slice of Texas toast. I also had a side order of the fried mushrooms, which were delicious, as was the dipping sauce--had just the right amount of 'bite' to it----some good horseradish there! (below-my mushrooms)
The decor was neat, lots of memorabillia type items hung on the walls.
I am all about great customer service-and we got it here. Great job Zaxby's!
In other Lowcountry news, check out the quickly vanishing crepe myrtle blossoms!
Soon they will be gone, gone, gone as Fall approches. Well, TECHNICALLY I know the calendar says "Fall" but of course it doesnt even begin to feel like Fall here on the coast till December or so. We dont even rake the leaves until February here----when the last of them finally finish falling--and those trees are few and far between anyway--pretty much everything else stays green year round, which is just one more reason I delight in coastal living!

Church for sale
Y'all ever watch those shows on HGTV where people buy unconventional properties and transform them into wonderful homes?--such as old factories, firehouses, lighthouses, churches, etc.
Spotted this neat old one in Mount Pleasant. looks like it was once a small country church. Wouldn't this make a great one of those fixer-uppers?
I do apologize for the blurry photos-twilight had fallen and this was the best I could do.

Charleston Number One!
Congratulations Holy City--Conde Nast voted us the number ONE destination city!
Not in South Carolina, not in the region, not in the United States----but number one in the world!
White Point Gardens
(above--I think this one is over by Colonial Lake, isn't it?)

one of my favorite Charleston doorways! Love their coleus! |

The temps have now dropped down to the 80s here, we are all enjoying the nice cooler weather. It is perfect beach weather! Not so humid either.

Flames in the Sky
At times tonights autumn sunset didn't even look like the sky---it looked like flames!
What a stunner of a sunset painted on this evening's sky!
"Red sky at night, Sailor's delight
Red sky at morning, Sailor's take warning!"

Flamingo House
Isnt this little cottage just adorable? It sits in a whole little community of tropical cottages just like this one, all in rainbow colors, in Garden City. I love Garden City, especially their pier! Its the only pier I know of with a live band at the end of the pier--they play on hot summer nights as little baby sharks frolic underneath! (maybe they are drawn by the sound of the music?--who knows?)
The little cottages above are actually free standing condos--a neat concept. Some have two or 3 bedrooms and even a small upstairs! They are small, but cute!
