Weeki Wachee Spring Swim

I have a few "best of summer" posts left...then I will be moving on to the beautiful holidays. Fall has finally arrived here in the Holy City and some chilly temperatures are on the way.

Looking Back.......the Best of Summer 2015

So hard to believe this isn't a man made swimming pool.......the water is so clear and beautiful. It's clean and it's cold and I couldn't WAIT TO get into it!

We watched lots of scuba divers go in. That was fun and interesting. I might like to do that sometime.

Can you believe the gorgeous colors of that water?

Almost 117 million GALLONS of fresh water come up out of the deep cavern every day. The cave system underneath Weeki Wachee spring is the DEEPEST known water cave in the United States. From what I've read, the bottom has never been found. Isn't that amazing?
The deepest part of the spring:

Click below to see Kelly's video which features the mermaids. Plus...it's just a fantastic song and dance!......if you're having a rough time.....great inspirational video to watch:
mermaids featured in Kelly Clarkston's video

The group Supergrass recorded this video of the mermaids and I love it so much because it shows some of the "Save our Tails" fund-raiser (to keep this amazing park/attraction open) the mermaids reporting to work, practicing, performing, putting their "tails" on, and jumping into the scary "tube" hole which is their entrance they swim through to get to the performance area. I also love this video because it shows present mermaids as well as past ones, and they have the prior mermaids (in our age group ladies) put on their tails... jump in and perform---I love that part! They do a great job and I think they are featured regularly. I also love the song and find it so poignant. "We were younger....."
My FAVORITE MERMAID VIDEO---CLICK BELOW:

If you peek into the water, you may just may get a glimpse of one of these elegant and beautiful watery creatures!

Or you may just meet up with ME! LOL
The springs are so cold its really hard to "ease into" the waters......it's best to just JUMP IN QUICK and get the cold shock over with fast! It was so refreshing I never wanted to get out.
