the old pink house

It's still hot here and this is a great way to cool down!

Is it still hot where you live?

As you can see, folks often jump in fully clothed! LOL

Let's meet on the corner! There y'all are........let's get walking. Today we're going around the French Quarter area.
We'll be walking on the old cobblestone streets quite a bit, hope you wore your flat comfortable walking shoes.

I love this sky blue house! Isn't it pretty?

What's that up there on the balcony? Is that a doggie looking down at us? Yep....it's a dog!

Some beautiful four 'o clocks here, hot pink pretties trailing down the wall

Peeking into shop windows:

and through gates:
This is the old "pink house". It's pink because it's made of very thick Bermuda stone from  West India, which gives the house the pink shade.
This is the second oldest house in Charleston.(they think it was built in  the 1600s to 1712). The house has quite a history, being known as a place for sailors and pirates to visit when it was a tavern and"house of ill repute", with a brothel upstairs.

I think this is the original gambrel roof

There are three stories, but each story is ONLY ONE ROOM. It's a charming and safe area to walk these days, but back in the early days this whole street was a red light district and was a dangerous area full of rowdy pirates and sailors, drinking and partying. Over the years the house has been law offices, art galleries and studios, and other things.

Bright fairy stones are waiting on this old wall for someone to discover them....

Night is falling and lights begin to shine in the homes and light up the evening. Someone on the Battery plays a little music.

I hope you got to see the big Harvest Moon--it sure was pretty!

today's "arm candy" LOL

Oh, I love lace curtains at windows!

More fairy stones!

the old Dock Street Theater
...and St. Philips church below.

Hope y'all enjoyed walking around the city streets with us tonight!
All is calm and peaceful. Time to go in and enjoy the evening.
