Gazebo on Sullivan's Island

Gazebos just speak of summertime, don't they?

Bandstand concerts and fourth of July and Labor Day picnics and the way things looked around the early 1900's, one of my favorite eras. Gazebos make me think of lemonade on hot sweltery summer days and light breezes after the sun goes to bed and you can smell the honeysuckle and the moon flowers. They make me think of the old Chicago song "Saturday in the Park (i think it was the fourth of july)" and kids with bikes and hula hoops with dogs scampering after them. Hot dogs, sparkly fireworks in the night sky and two of my favorite movies "Picnic" and "Meet me in St. Louis".
I always admire this one every time we go past. Sometimes if we have time we get out and walk around. We did this day.

There were pretty white summery flowers blooming that day all around the gazebo and around the little park. I am so glad we stopped to "smell the flowers"!
Wishing everybody a happy Labor Day!

  3. There's just something about gazebos that draw us to them! Enchanting, aren't they? I wonder how old this one is or if it is a modern day reproduction.

  7. It's a lovely Gazebo. They just refurbished our park's Gazebo/Bandstand which was nice as it was in need of some sprucing up. - I enjoy walking through pretty parks like this one.
