It's been a long time since I posted.
We've had some big losses and I'm trying to get back to my blogging. In the meantime, I've been reading all yours, and commenting as much as I can.
Hope you can be patient with me about not commenting as much.
If you know me, you know Easter is my most favorite holiday. This year's was really sad. But I did try my best.
Palm Sunday
We did have a nice ham supper on Easter, and our traditional coconut cake. I really didn't make pictures of anything else
So many pretty flowers in bloom!
I love seeing interesting old architecture!
The air was heavy with the fragrance of jasmine
It was cascading down fences and walls
I always like to make pictures of the bridge and the river
The weather was perfect.......sunny with a crisp, cool breeze off the river
Gorgeous old stove!
fluffy blooms
love these yellow cannas!
so many old historic houses to see
some not in the best shape! LOL
also want to wish y'all a happy happy Mothers Day!
Have a great weekend!

I'm so sorry for your loss.....praying for comfort and peace for you.
ReplyDeleteThe post was so full of beauty and those precious dogs! Joys and sorrows - reminds me that's part of Life..... You are looking as beautiful as always! Love your yellow purse!
Oh, I'm SORRY that happened to you!! Any loss is a dolor, and yoursseem to be deep and lasting---we just have no idea from this far remove when someone we care about is hurting or bereft. I hope you are feeling better day by day, and this trip must have added welcome color and BRIGHT to your healing. What a lovely panoply of photos of SPRING---those floribundas, CANNAS! (my Grandpa called them FLAGS, for some Mississippi Hill Country reason, and Mammaw corrected him every time).
ReplyDeleteAll those strolls past the flowers, the shops (bright beacons of commerce to lure AND soothe), and all those scenes of the past and present that is the growing, changing South of our time. What, pray tell, is that tiny green portcullis item? It looks like it's made of melted Crayolas---anything in any size box of those does it for me.
And those inestimable buildings, in that unmistakable style---the stories reaching up and the balconies and eaves reaching out for shade---is there a garconniere sneaked in there? Something about YOUR architecture, to a Southern child whose town had ONE house with a second story and a basement---the Delta I'm from was either shotgun or four-by on those concrete pyramid stilts (for the convenience of the chickens underneath) or plain old cement slabs starting with one bath and spread out further Post War with add-ons and sunrooms and patios.
I spent long moments giving each a family, a story, a set of circumstances from elaborate to dire, with the weathering and Time wrinkles appropriate to the face. I love your new sweeties, and their names are perfection. I'm sure they're sweet, demure young ladies who will give and receive a lifetime of LOVE. I'll be thinking of you every day, wishing you well and warm and content, as you repair your heart and remember sweet moments.
so many really beautiful blooms. your area, the landscapes and buildings are so lovely. my neighbor has a magnolia tree and it sheds so many leaves, all over my front lawn. i don't have any trees in the front and my grass is covered in leaves. we have some historic homes in out area and they all have deed restrictions on how they are cared for and represented. i may have missed, if you explained what happened...sorry you have had a difficult time!!!
ReplyDeleteOH Debbi! Again, I missed this post. I don't know why it doesn't show up in my feed. But I'm so glad I found it! I love love love all the pictures you shared of the old houses and flowers and beauty of Beaufort! It really is a beautiful place to see! Thank you for sharing it with us, as I probably will never see it in person! And I love your sweet new "ladies". I know it's been a rough month, but I am so thankful God directed you to these two, and I hope and pray they will be a joy and a blessing to you in so many ways for a long long time! It's good to see you out and about and enjoying such a beautiful day! God bless you my dear dear friend. Lily Grace, Bailey and Blackie all send their love!
