spring has sprung

Merry St. Patricks Day, Y'all!

Spring has finally arrived:

the farmer's fields are greening up and lots of planting is in progress

the "dandy-lions" are sprouting up, LOL

Many trees are still bare:

But the flowering trees are fluffing out

our Carolina Jessamine finally bloomed

and our onion bed is doing great so far

Tansy enjoying an afternoon in the onion bed, LOL

Mr. Front Porch gave me a forsythia for Valentines day, we got it planted last week, along with three magnolias. So far all are doing well.

It's DELIGHTFUL to see UNCOVERED mulch and mud---we're still having flurries that come and go, and still in the 20s at night. And the colors!! I love all that fresh fluffy bloom---especially that Jessamine---is it a fragrant flower---they look like little jonquil wanna-bes in their wee cuteness.

And those onions!! You'll have a perfect trove for the Easter peas---my Mammaw "ordered in fresh" a handful of the small ones just for that dish---none of that canned mush on that occasion. Leah and I consider onions the perfect vegetable---so amenable to almost every other one, and such a Royal standby on its crisp, sweet own.

i am so happy to see you today...you look great in your green!! we are just starting to see the cherry blossoms open up and the daffodils too!! the garden look great and all those onions, i love onions!! do you eat onion sandwiches?!

How cute you looked on St. Patrick's Day, Debbi! And wow the flowering trees really did show out this year, and early too! At least that's how it seemed to me. Tansy looks so adorable all dolled up (haha) and sitting amongst your darling bed of onions! Hope you are Mr. Front Porch are doing well! xoxo 😘

Tonight's Micromoon--we watched it rise over the Battery tonight, it was red and orange

Skywatchers in Central, Mountain and Pacific time zones will get a view of the full moon tonight (Sept. 13) at 11:32 p.m., 10:32 p.m. and 9:32 p.m., respectively, while East Coasters will see the moon at its fullest at 12:32 a.m. on the 14th. Regardless of time zone, the moon will appear just a bit dimmer than usual (eerie!), because it will be at apogee, or its farthest distance from Earth. That means that the moon will appear about 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than when it is at its closest point to Earth, which is known as perigee. (Livescience.com)

LETS END KILLER WHALE CAPTIVITY!!

Please research the captive killer orcas that the SEAWORLD franchise holds captive. It is animal cruelty at it's worst. Those killer whales need to be FREE, NOT HELD CAPTIVE BY us humans and forced to do 'tricks' for our amusement. (and to make SEAWORLD a lot of money. ) Please go watch BLACKFISH when y'all have time okay? also read "Killer at Seaworld". You will learn so much and I doubt if you ever pay entrance fees to enter SEAWORLD or any of it's affiliate parks again.........because you will learn what the money really goes for........PROFIT. Their profit...........the poor whales gain nothing. But life captivity. Sad lonely lives in bathtub size enclosures where they cant even interact with their own pods and offspring normally. Many of them are so sick and die very painful deaths.The 'breeding' program is a joke. They are not even allowed to procreate in a natural and normal manner. The whales that were caught in the wild were taken from their pods and their mothers in a very cruel and inhumane fashion---it is heartbreaking. It's awful sad. Please research and then let me know what you think, okay? Whales are magnificent creatures, I love them. I tell everybody it's okay to love them and to want to go see them......but please go to areas where you can view them in the wild either from the beaches or cliffs or from boats. Not from cement swimming pools where they are mis-treated, gawked at, and forced to 'perform'. God created them and intended for them to exist in the seas! They really need to remain free........................
