Time for a Sunday Drive!
Hop on in and lets see where we end up!The corn and sunflowers have all been harvested now.
the cotton fields are still here, they are starting to bale them up this week.
I love seeing the snowy cotton fields
Trees growing out the window!
We ended up in a small town called Ridgeland. This little town was originally called "Gopher Hill", (1894) because of all the gopher tortoises that live there.
love these old buildings!
We love poking around little towns like this, the older, the better! Love the history.
Always interesting things to see
There's a rooster on the roof!
Love these old gas pumps!
These sure bring back memories....My Ma-Maw lived near an old gas station and on sweltering hot days, we'd walk over and get an ice cold Dr. Pepper out of the machine. It was the kind of machine you put the money in, and then reach in and get your frosty cold drink in a little glass bottle. I'll never forget how delicious that was on a hot summer day!
The hot sun, the smell of gas fumes, the feel of a cotton Seersucker sunsuit, and a cold drink in a glass bottle! LOL
Really glad you came with us today, for a nice long drive out into the country, and then into a little historic town!

Hope your weekend has been happy, healthy, calm, and safe!
This was lovely! What a happy little town! I bet you would've loved that Gypsy Moon place! did you go inside and shop? Love the cotton fields. We enjoyed seeing them when we took our trip north a few weeks ago. They look like snow! Yes, I love the old gas stations that have been restored. Those were the days when we would get a tank of gas, the windows washed, the oil checked, etc. for like 29 cents a gallon...sometimes they gave us dishes too! And yes I remember the cold drink ice chests with the glass bottles and you had to remove the bottle cap on the freezer where the little cap remover was. Happy memories. Thank you for taking us back down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteNice tour, thank you. Trees out of windows is different. Seen them growing out of gutters but not trees. I love old things like the gas pumps and stuff. Old, antique, rusty...I love.
ReplyDeleteI love Ridgeland! I got some great pictures there a few years back. LOVE South Carolina small towns!!! And I know just how that ice cold Dr. Pepper tasted on that hot summer day! I always had to share with my sister, UGH hahaha! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little town! Exploring somewhat forgotten towns is such a passion of mine. We used to live in SC a few years back, Shaw Air Force Base, to be exact. I loved our time there and miss it dearly. We didn’t get to explore as much as I would have liked to because my husband was deployed a few times while we were there, but we absolutely LOVED Camden, SC. Such a beautiful and historical place! Hope to get back there someday!
