It was good clean fun!

Do any of you remember these lovely ladies?

Heres a close up to help you:

This one was my favorite!  I have no idea why. Was it her fiery hair? Her sweet face? Her pretty singing voice? I think her name was Sandy?

They were some of the ladies who sang regularly on the Lawrence Welk weekly show in the 1960s and 1970s.

Heres a shot showing their long lovely dresses:
....Why dont singers perform in gowns like this anymore? Today they strut around on stage in little more than bodysuits/swimsuits.........

and there was THIS COUPLE. Does anyone remember their names? I so want to say "Bobby and Cissy". ???

I apologize for the blurry photos.....but these are just quick snapshots I made of the tv!

They sure were "cutting a rug". LOL Doubt if the kids today know what that means! LOL

I spent many hours watching the show when I was a kid. I remember "Guy and Ralna" the singing married couple.

To see what Ralna's been up to click below:

And a platinum blonde lady who played the piano, I want to say JoAnne Castle maybe? Do you remember any of the entertainers or their names? Did you watch this show and did you have favorites?
I loved the Lennon Sisters!
I also remember watching Lynn Andersen sing "I Never promised you a Rose Garden" on the show.
Of course if any of us DID WATCH this show, we would never ever ever ADMIT it.....this type show just wasn't "cool or groovy".....it was stuff "our parents" watched. I watched a whole hour or so of the show last week, hostessed by Ralna, and I enjoyed it alot. Gasp! Have I grown OLD? LOL
"wunnerful, wunnerful" ha ha LOL

Goodnight, goodnight, until we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn 'til then
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
You know you'll always remain in my heart
Goodnight, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again
Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn
-lyrics by Jack Elliott, music by George Cates

The last word followed almost immediately by a cheerful "Good night!" The part that almost everyone has lodged forever in their brain is the last section that begins with 'good night.'

Catchy little tune...funny how i remembered every word and sang right along....funny what our minds can remember isn't it?

  3. Oh yes Debbie, I did watch Lawrence Welk. Love your photo memories blurred or not. I can't say I remember all the singers but I do remember those pretty Lennon sisters. What a shame we have lost those wonderful old TV shows that was pure entertainment.

I scrolled down to the previous post and truly loved all the lovely photos from your walk. Since we live in the mountains where every where we walk is up or down and we do not have a neighborhood, I am envious of your lovely surroundings. However, Our mountains are something to behold and we love where we live.

    Have a wonderful week.
    Hugs,
    Jeanne

  4. I remember the Lawrence Welk how too when I was little girl in the 60's. I also watched with my parents or grandmother. Of course we never told anyone we watched it. LOL The Lennon sisters were so good and they sang such perfect harmony. I may remember the dancers being Bobbie and Barbara. Remember the girl that played the piano?? I wish we had some great talent on TV like that know. Guess I'm old fashion but it was good raw talent and great variety. Thanks for sharing this walk down memory lane.
    Hugs, CM

  5. I caught up with this show in the '70's when my parents started watching it every Saturday night. The Lennon Sisters were already gone, but I knew who they were (there were originally 4)! The show was originally done live - now that is entertainment!

  6. Oh, yes! I used to watch them back when we only had 4 channels! And I must admit I often watch the reruns on PBS. A little corny but oh so comforting.

  7. I used to watch it in the 70s, the only problem was it was on at the same time as the muppet show. It was a hard decision for me, because I loved both of them :)

  8. Effortlessly, your stones which have been on the outside of in your home will certainly get additional of an whipping as opposed to stones which have been on the medial side your own home. In order that it mustn't be most of a new amaze to listen for that this outside the house stones will certainly call for schedule cleanup additional generally when compared with people who are generally on the medial side your own home.
