honeysuckle anniversary

The honeysuckle bloomed out and wow, did it ever smell delicious!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary.

going outside to make pictures of my anniversary roses

enjoying my roses!

My anniversary present, a pearl necklace. The blue beads are lapis lazuli

I got the identical one with green beads for Christmas from Mr. Front Porch, so now I have the two I wanted, I just love them!

pearls with green aventurine

Mr. Front Porch got interested in growing herbs this spring, so for our anniversary I got him gardening and herb items, like these herb cutting scissors and an herb gardening book.

And fun markers!

and these cute little fancy cutting scissors:

We had a yummy steak supper for our anniversary with baked taters.

Along with loving the old Rifleman series, we've been watching Bonanza all spring. Another really OLD SHOW,  (started 1959) and such good episodes!
Loving the adventures of Hoss, Ben Cartwright,  Adam, and Little Joe, who of course, was Michael Landon.

Since we're enjoying the old Westerns, we got a combined anniversary present of the next 3 and 4 Seasons of Bonanza, Season One of The Big Valley, and one of our favorite old TV mini series North and South. (1985)

this should keep us plenty set for evening tv viewing all  during the hot summer!

things are growing here:

tiny baby sunflower
getting bigger and bigger!

baby moonflower
planted the carrots, awaiting sprouts
baby taters up
This is my FOURTH TRY at hollyhocks! I love hollyhocks and have not been able to even get any to come up here YET.
I am not giving up, lol.
These seeds soaked about 12 hours I think I read to do.
Not 100% sure, but I'm hopeful these are baby hollyhocks!I'm so excited anything even came up, LOL. All the hollyhocks I've had in the past grow the first year, establishing themselves, roots, etc. then they don't bloom til the second year.
little baby morning glories
Hope your week is going great. It's very very HOT HERE, and pretty much a summer thunderstorm moves through each evening, great for all these things we have growing. But it sure leaves things so steamy and humid.
Hope you are staying cool!

  1. Happy Anniversary my dear friend. What beautiful roses!! And that necklace is so beautiful, just like you! Your hubby sure knows how to give lovely gifts! And a steak dinner too! Now that's special! Love the herb garden idea! I hope they all grow...and I hope your hollyhocks grow too. I planted some seeds, but they didn't do anything. I guess I should've soaked them like you did first. I don't know much about gardening...I just stuck them in the ground and watered them, but I think it's too hot here for them. Yes, it has been steamy and hot here too. We need the rain so much, however, so I don't mind the steam afterwards if we can just get enough rain to fill our pond back up and keep the grass and flowers growing. I enjoyed this post and the previous one, which I just now found! I'm sorry to be so far behind. It's been a busy few weeks. Love you!

  3. Merriest Anniversary to you and hubs. Honeysuckle, not a my favorite thing since I used to be really allergic to it. Not so much these days but it does take over. I have some here at the new place that I am trying to get rid of. LOL...Rain, rain, rain, so tired of it. I love those markers. Nice....I have found a lot of things that the app claims it is an herb growing wild all over the yard out here. So come pretty cool flowers that I am digging up and planting elsewhere. It is against the law to pick or dig up wildflowers here in TN but I figure, my yard, not a prob. lol
